This Toolkit is designed for anyone interested in growing the supply of affordable housing in NSW, particularly in communities or contexts where there is more likely to be community resistance to such developments.
The Tool Kit contains:
- Information on the main reasons for and contexts in which community opposition is more likely to be encountered;
- Evidence on the most effective ways that support can be built for affordable housing developments;
- A range of Tools to support proponents of affordable housing developments to build support with local communities, local councils and other key stakeholders, including:
- Needs-based data, tables and maps for understanding relative affordable housing need in your local area;
- Information sheets on key affordable housing issues that can be used as part of building support with communities;
- A model presentation on affordable housing needs, issues and your proposal;
- Risk assessment /site selection tools;
A range of case studies that help to promote affordable housing including tenant profiles, and good practice in design, development, management and overcoming community resistance.
